Brielle woke up Friday morning excited about what was to come. She couldn’t wait to see Darren. She made two fruit salads and put antifreeze in one of them as well as two containers of iced tea, with a touch of antifreeze in one. She took a little taste of each to see if anything was noticeable, but nothing tasted funny.

She called Darren and told him that she would be out at eight so she would pick him up instead of him coming to her house. A decision Brielle made so she wouldn’t have to try to get rid of his car. Once she noticed him getting sick, she would offer to take him back home. Darren said it was fine and gave her his address. He then asked her if she liked Gin and Juice.

Yeah, you think I’m gonna get drunk and let you have some , but I have a surprise for you, Detective, she thought to herself after telling him to bring the alcohol, and then hanging up the phone.

Brielle had everything prepared and ready to carry out her plan by 7:30. She left home dressed seductively, and picked Darren up from his condo.

Darren hopped inside, “Wow, is this your car? Is it new?” “Yup, I bought it with the life insurance money.” Darren seemed uncomfortable when she made the statement. He knew his boss had been talking back and forth with the insurance company and decided to delay honoring Dante’s policy until the police gave the okay. She was still a person of interest, and wasn’t sure whether she would be officially charged.

“So, how have you been holding up?” Darren asked, switching the subject.

“Fine,” she replied.

“Well, I have a confession to make.” Her stomach tightened.

“I heard about what happened with your husband. You told me that he died, but someone who knowsyou told me how he died.”

“Okay, and? What’s your point?” Brielle shot him a blank look.

“I just wanted you to know that I knew in case you want to talk about it,” he replied.

“Nope. I’m good.” She paused then changed the subject to Janay. They talked about her crazy ways for nearly twenty minutes until Brielle interrupted, “We’re here,” she said, pulling into her driveway.

As he got out of the car Brielle noticed him look over at Talia’s house. She started laughing.

“What’s so funny little lady?”

“Oh, nothing.”

Once inside, they sat in the living room, watching a special on MTV about top grossing couples. Brielle got up to make them both gin and juice, but put way more gin into his cup than hers. She put the food in the oven for it to warm and brought out two small bowls of fruit salad. He ate it all, which of course immediately put a smile on Brielle’s face.

She made small talk with him while they watched more T.V. She made sure that he was tipsy before getting back up to

make their plates. Brielle smiled from ear to ear as she brought the plates into the living room, with his deadly food and laced iced tea.
